Sanders tipped to be a champ
(from the Tamworth Herald)
Tamworth jockey Seb Sanders is the man champion flat race jockey Kieren Fallon fears the most as he sets about retaining his title.
Fallon, odds on in most betting lists to hold onto his crown, told pundits at Lingfield recently that Sanders could prove a surprise package.
The Tamworth ace finished sixth in the jockeys table last season after riding 101 winners.
But after replacing George Duffield as stable jockey to Sir Mark Prescott, the reigning champion is sure Sanders can do even better.
"Seb gave me a great run a couple of years ago and though he had a bad season last year he is now first jockey to Sir Mark which will give him a great opportunity to pick up three or four winners every day," he said.
"Seb could be the main challenger."
Irish based bookmakers Paddy Power rate Seb Sanders a 33-1 chance for the 2004 Flat Racing Jockeys Championship. Kieren Fallon is favourite at 1-3.
