Sanders stars at Yarmouth

Seb Sanders showed great powers of improvisation on Tuesday when he overcame a slipped saddle to pilot Extreme Beauty to victory at Yarmouth.

The rider realised there were problems over four furlongs out in the EBF/Carlsberg UK Ltd Fillies' Conditions Stakes and looked down to assess what had happened.

But he kept a cool head as the early leaders paid for a blistering pace and Extreme Beauty was going by far the best of the field, moving ahead as they surged into the final two furlongs.

It was at that point that Sanders had to get his feet out of the irons and he did magnificently in the circumstances to bring the 5-1 chance home with odds-on shot Squaw Dance over three lengths back in second.

Brittain said: "Seb is a rider as well as a jockey. He didn't panic."

Extreme Beauty was placed in a Group Two race last year before losing her way, but this victory should serve as a confidence booster and Brittain believes she can press on from here.

"She was Group class last year and there is nothing to stop her winning a Listed race and we will see where she goes from there," he added.
